8-meters tall Beech tree planted in Poznań Arboretum
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Dendrological Garden of the University of Life Sciences in Poznań, gardeners from GARTE planted a common beech ‘Atropunicea’.
The tree, impressively 8 meters high, with a trunk circumference of 70 cm and a weight of about 2 tons, is to be a symbol of the Garden's hundred-year tradition. The approximately 40-year-old beech imported from Holland can reach up to 26 meters in height. Planting such a large tree is an extremely complicated process, requiring specialist equipment and precise preparation of the ground. Trees of this size are planted extremely rarely, mainly in historical parks and botanical gardens, where they are an important element of the landscape and natural heritage.
